Lake Oswego Schools Rated Exceptional
The Oregon Department of Education recently rated all thirteen of the Lake Oswego School District’s school as “exceptional”. School report cards include ratings for student performance, improvement, student behavior, and school characteristics. The individual ratings are input into a formula that results in an overall rating of exceptional, strong, satisfactory, low, or unacceptable. The “exceptional” rating was achieved by nine schools two years ago, eleven schools last year and all thirteen in 2005, with River Grove Elementary and Waluga Junior High School joining the other schools in the district. This accomplishment makes Lake Oswego School District the only district in the state home to all exceptional schools.
Talented and enthusiastic teachers, staff and students, along with generous, involved parents, helped the Lake Oswego School District achieve this remarkable benchmark. $1.65 million has been raised by The Lake Oswego School Foundation for Lake Oswego schools in the past year. The money will be used to add and maintain teaching positions and assure schools’ low teacher-to-student ratio.
